Perez Cements Legacy At Holmdel Park, Langon Takes MOC Title Over Barna; UC Proves Mettle Against CBA By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Photos by John Nepolitan US#1 Angelina Perez won the New Jersey Meet of Champions title Saturday at Holmdel Park by running almost exactly the same time she won the Group title a week earlier on the same course. Perez, of Lakeland Regional, ran 17:09 on Saturday to win the girls championship race by 26 seconds over Colts Neck senior Lilly Shapiro. That was two seconds slower than last week, but the two results are the fastest by a New Jersey girl in state history and trail only Katelyn Tuohy on the all-time Holmdel list. JOHN NEPOLITAN PHOTOS - BOYS | GIRLS Marco Langon of Bridgewater-Raritan ran a time of 15:06 to move among the top echelon of boys in the history of Holmdel Park and beat Ridge's Jackson Barna (15:13) for the second straight week. They met in the Group 4 final a week ago, when Langon ran 15:38 and Barna 15:50. Union Catholic, which beat CBA for the first time at the state meet for the Non-Public A Group title last week, performed even better at the Meet of Champions. All five scorers on the UC team ran faster this week and secured the MOC title 67-84 over the Colts. Shane Brosnan's third-place finish in 15:22 led the way for a team looking to solidify a berth in the RunningLane championship field in Alabama. Cherokee won a tight battle with Ridgewood (117-126) to claim the girls MOC title a week after pulling out a three-point victory (81-84) over Ridgewood in the Group 4 final.
